How did your Manager and work colleagues react when you told them about your Fibro? I haven't told my manager as I'm rarely on shift with her - I'm scared she'll tell Head Office and they'll let me go! I really don't want to lose this job as its my life line being with friends, having a laugh and forgetting about Fibro just for a moment! Unfortunately it's getting more noticeable that I am in pain so feel the need to tell my boss!!

If your company has over 100 employees and you have worked 1000+ hours in last year, you should be eligible for FMLA. Contact your company disability office and request forms to bring to your doctor. This will protect your job.
Unfortunately, my boss does not seem to respond to most things that say to her, however with union protection we have a bit of leverage and things are taken into consideration. I just hate personally that I have been going through this for quite some time and was out a lot,
(before I knew) that I have Fibro, but I think I was treated like I was just useless and making excuses, it was a difficult time!
@A MyFibroTeam Member, aww that's a real shame, I would love that job, it went through my mind 3 years ago before Fibro! I've only told one friend I work with so its getting harder to hide it to be honest so I'm gonna have say something soon. Thanks for the info, take care - hope you can continue to work☺️
Hi, I've not read all the replies but I told my boss and team about 2 weeks ago. Fibro is covered under the disability act so they can't let you go. This was confirmed to my by a knowledgeable counsellor. Work my need to tweak or make some changes to the job to support you but they can't sack you. No one at work has fibro so they don't really understand how I feel but I have told people and if they ask I try to explain. I'm currently a vet nurse but in June I'll become a receptionist, I'm very very sad to be stepping back from nursing but it's the best thing for my body...
Thanks Sophie1, I know but it happens - thanks Hun, hugs to you too xx
