I have a question for the singles on here. Do you find dating someone new to be more trouble then it's worth? Meeting someone is hard enough but the dating and doing and hurting and being so tired makes it even harder. I dated a real nice guy for two yrs and some of the reason I broke it out off with him was because I felt I was being a burden on him. He didn't sign up for what we deal with EVERY Damn day. He was great about it but he rides with a motorcycle club and goes on long runs a lot and… read more

Members connected deeply over the difficulty of dating with fibromyalgia, with many sharing that they have stepped back from relationships entirely because they felt like burdens or couldn't keep up with active partners, particularly those who loved activities like biking or traveling. Several members offered hopeful alternatives, including specialized dating sites like DisabledMate.com, forming platonic friendships with men instead of romantic relationships, and being upfront about limitations and boundaries from the start. A recurring theme was the relief of not being alone in these feelings, the value of community connection over traditional dating, and the permission to prioritize self-care without guilt even when it means letting go of love.

I had just started Dating a guy when I developed my symptoms of Fibro, he was a lovely guy and was there for me during the most difficult times.
We got engaged and I thought it was for life but as I got worse he took over the cleaning and cooking.
I was still holding down a full time job but needed to rest all the time that I wasn't working ,he also a biker wanted to be out and about with his friends at weekends.
I stopped going with him and after a while felt the relationship was suffering because of me so after 5 years we agreed to part.
I feel that I am better on my own, I do get lonely from time to time so friends are the way to go .

I must also add Arkansas66 that i have made a few good friends thru dating sites and other friends. You can form good friendships with men your age without the trappings that intimate relationships seem to come with. I am happiest having the friendships i do with the men in my life. We look to one another for support.not so lonely and i am not anxious about having to have a relationship with anyone. My motto is...All Men Are My Brothers. Its been working out great. Justt be sure to let a man know right off tha bat what your expectations are...just friends as well as your condition and what they can (or not) expect from you. Ditch the ones that cross the boundaris and keep the true friends...the ones who are on the same page as you and who respect your wishes.

I just stopped dating because of this. I didn't have any thing to give any one , I could barely deal with myself. I haven't dated in 8 yr's I don't think I have the strength to do much any way. I am pretty much in seclusion except for my mother and sister coming by . it's just easier that way . I am having too many problems and it is a hassle just to leave the house.

A dating site for broken people so we can take care of each other. You sit in your chair and I'll sit in my chair and we'll both fall asleep together. (:
