Members connected over shared experiences with hot bath sensitivities, with many describing panic, breathlessness, and anxiety when immersed in hot water, finding relief in knowing they weren't alone in what they thought was a strange or isolated issue. Several members shared their workarounds, including taking showers instead, using shallow Epsom salt baths with lukewarm water, or waiting for the water to cool before bathing, while also discussing broader sensitivities to noise, bright lights, strong smells, and heat that many experience. A recurring theme was the emotional toll of these sensitivities, from friends who stop inviting them out to partners who don't fully understand, leading many to isolate themselves despite longing for connection and normalcy.

Noise such as tv too loud, tapping, whistling, car music too loud is just like nail on a chalkboard to me. Also sensitive to bright lights and the weather, cold and low pressure storms especially

OMG! I have that EXACT issue!!! I thought is was just a weird anxiety issue I had! I actually told my doctor about it years ago! Wow! It's so interesting to hear it's real thing! You certainly are not alone!

My sensitivities are audible and visual. Noises, loud groups with everyone talking at once, loud bangs , clanging noises go up my spine. Too much or really bright light is blinding and causes me headaches. Skin sensitivity also from being touched sometimes too.

I am extremely sensitive to noises as well!! People around me don't seem to understand it or think I am being ridiculous. The sound of a vacuum really sets me off. The smells...big time trigger. My husband loves scented candles. I'm pretty sure he thinks I just like to complain. It's true, though, that we tend to isolate ourselves. So many of my friends have stopped asking to to do things because of my so called "issues". It breaks my heart.

Another example of how we may have the same disease, but we all have different ways of coping.
