I have recently withdrawn from Lyrica after taking it for 10 years and which has given a lasting side effect of Photophobia! I've not been coping well at all without it, muscle pain and stiffness worse and migraines more severe and frequent! The doctors have prescribed Gapapentin and wondered how you find it!

Members shared mixed experiences with gabapentin for fibromyalgia, with some finding significant relief from pain, restless leg syndrome, and neuropathy, while others reported disappointing results or difficult side effects like memory loss, headaches, dizziness, swelling, hair loss, and severe fatigue. Several members emphasized that higher doses (up to 2400mg) were necessary for meaningful pain relief, though they also noted that higher doses often brought more memory problems and exhaustion. A recurring theme was that everyone responds differently to fibromyalgia medications, so it's worth trying gabapentin while staying alert to side effects and working closely with a doctor to find the right dose.

I was also on Gabapentin & it did nothing for me either. Had to stop taking because it was causing my hands & feet to swell.

Gabapentin has helped me tremendously. I now can go more and not hurt quite as bad and I have more energy. The secret is they have to put you on high doses (2400mg),if you have a severe case of it. I have been in the past on lyrica and savella and gabapentin has helped me by far the best. But everyone is different and it happened to work for me . If you start taking it you know you have to gradually build up to full dose. I really didn't start feeling much relief from it till I was at the full dose.Wishing you get relief. 😉

The answers are interesting because the drugs all have different reactions. I started with 300mg, and had to stop due to severe dizziness. Next I began taking40mg Cymbalta, but had to stop due to severe diarrhea. Switched to 20mg Cymbalta but diarrhea continued. My doctor told me there was nothing else that he could Rx if I could not take the Gabapentin and Cymbalta. Fortunately my neurologist Rx 100mg Gabapentin and it seems to work better. I just feel exhausted all the time and I am falling asleep while sitting down. It is so hard to do any housecleaning because of exhaustion. I probably will need to hire a part-time housecleaner.

I am on 600 mg of gabapentin and it’s my miracle drug for pain. Think I’d be walking with a cane if not for the Gaba. But maybe that’s why I swell.

it has really helped me with restless leg, neuropathy, and those pesky nerve pains that just show up out of nowhere. I take it twice a day.
