Members strongly confirmed that worsening vision during fibromyalgia flares is a real and common experience, with symptoms including blurry or hazy vision, dry and itchy eyes, light sensitivity, and optic nerve pain. Several members shared practical strategies for relief, including using artificial tears or eye wash for dry eye syndrome, taking omega-3 fish oil supplements, wearing tinted glasses for light sensitivity, and consulting both an optometrist and doctor, as fibromyalgia affects the six muscles and nerves controlling the eyes. A recurring theme was reassurance that members are not alone or crazy for experiencing these symptoms, with many expressing relief at learning vision changes are a recognized part of fibromyalgia, sometimes linked to migraines or the body's reduced energy during flares.

I have a London based nutritionist who explained this as follows: When I have a flare I get back headaches, nausea and eye pain and vision out of wack. If you consider that we are operating with reduced energy it makes sense. Your brain requires 40% of energy available, your digestive system another 30% and your optic nerve (eyes) another bunch of energy. I think this makes sense?

There's 6 muscles that make the eye work and nerves make muscles work so it's no wonder that people commonly forget that fibro can and does affect vision in some cases it can lead to blindness.
It can start with driving at night straining to see signs or focusing on things after the glare of an on coming light .. Becoming sensitive to lights ... So many little things to look for but ultimately co silt both an optimologist and a Dr x
