Any Problems Being Extra Flexible And Having Fibro?
A MyFibroTeam Member asked a question πŸ’

I have had a few doctors lately notice that I am extremely flexible (in some spots double jointed) and they said it was very odd that I was so over flexible and to have fibro for so long. One of the doctors mentioned it could cause a lot of problems but she would really explain it to me. Has anyone else come accross this with doctors? If so what are the problems with being so flexible and having fibro?

I am able to still wrap my arms behind my back and grab them, I can bend my arms and legs… read more

Jeez that's terrible. ( I still work but it kills me πŸ˜ͺ more tired really as I work 10 1/2 hrs a day for three days ) my friend can't claim that either she has no energy and hardly out of bed. She had to give up her job too as not understanding the pain blah, blah, blah. I think she has the middle payment if that make any sense ? She looks well that makes it worse I think as ppl think we are not unwell because we take pride in appearance 😁. There is me thinking 10 stretches lol. Was good @A MyFibroTeam Member πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚ i will find out for you

I'm still fairly flexible. I was double jointed too and I do all of my stretches for at least 20min a day and so I can't get disability because they think since I can bend down to the floor there is nothing wrong with me. Grrr! I can't do like what you said but to them everything looks normal. What about how slowly I do these things and how long it takes me to get up from things. They don't think about that and the fact that yes I can do them but a lot of times it still really hurts. I can't do certain floor stretches because my hands hurt too much to hold it that way, etc. So anyway, not sure if there is a term for that myself. Be interested in knowing if you find out.

After being diagnosed with fm my consultant also tested my joints and told me I had hypoelastisity syndrome. My joints , elbows and knees bend more than normal. I'm a plus size lady and have always been very flexible. I gave up my job a year ago coz fm got so bad. I'm now stiff as a board and think it's about time I gave some exercise a go to see if it helps.

That is one of the reasons how a Dr had taken me more seriously. ( but total opposite to you) after years of complaining how tired and pains I had and they were just saying I'll check your thyroid as I'm under active. I had a new car Christmas 2014 and instantly my thumb started to hurt when reversed, then my hips ( which I used to wrap my leg around my neck ( sitting ) my wrists, and so on I explained to my Dr I was double jointed and did gymnastics when younger but every part I used actually kill me and I was so fatigued.
I'd wake up and after an hour my eyes were so tired / heavy again. I have a lovely life and didn't like feeling like this ( I'd remarried ) she said it sounds like fibro but no test but would test me for rheumatoid athritis. Which came back that I had r/a then saw the rheumatologist. They diagnosed both. ( obviously I had degeneration changes too) but luckily they picked up my bones are thin for my age so having a bone density in April.. I have to say though I can not do all these things that I used to be able to do not that I would want to even as the pain is unbearable. 😱
