So my rhuemy wants me to go to a cognitive therapist because my fibro fog is really bad and it's making school almost impossible. Has anyone else had this therapy? Did it help? Is it worth it? I hate therapy
Hi, I haven't had anything like that, my Doctor doesn't think my fibro fog is bad enough. Let us know how you do. hugs
I had cognitive therapy...I don't know it it was just my therapist...but all it was was her telling me that I had to learn to mentally ignore the pain and that it was in my head. Counting to head and not tensing up. I feelmost doctors just do not understand fibro. It did not do much for me. I try to just find my own way to remember things and get out of the fog
I've been concerned about the aluminum content in antiperspirants for several years but the few studies I've read do not support my concerns BUT I stopped using antiperspirants and began using an all natural, organic deodorant in December. My thoughts are clearer and it works surprisingly well as a deodorant ๐
If you haven't already, talk to your Disabilites Resource Office (assuming you are at a university). I was able to talk to my doctor, who wrote a note requesting certain accomodations, and the office approved it and then helped me organize those accomodations. Mine included having a single occupancy room, a lowered required meal plan, and arrangements with my professors for missing more than the allowed amount of class. I did not have bad fibro fog at the time so I didn't ask for extended exam times or a private exam room, but maybe that would help you. Sorry this isn't about cognitive therapy! Good luck!
Maria, I have never tried it. I love my regular therapy, I honestly don't think I'd be here without it. But it sounds to me, that the people that have participated in it don't seem to think it helps. Have you been to a Neurologist? Not that they are always helpful. My pervious Neurologist was AMAZING, but he doesn't take my insurance & is an hour away. My new neurologist is awful, she knows NOTHING about fibromyalgia or fibro fog & wanted to diagnose me with early onset dementia. Which I tried to explain to her is not what I have, but she is not hearing me. But it is definitely important to find a good neurologist.
