How Many Of You Feel Your Fibro Was Brought On By Traumatic Events Such As Surgeries Etc?
A MyFibroTeam Member asked a question 💭

Just curious, how many of you feel your fibro was triggered by traumatic events? My doctor suggested that my fibro may have come after several major surgeries I had in a very short time. They were all sudden, unexpected, and traumatic. But I also have Celiac, and autoimmune issues. Wonder if events can cause this disease or just autoimmune diseases in general.

I definitely believe my, Fibromyalgia was the result of extreme stress, or brought on by dramatic events. I lost my father Nov 1999. Three months later, on February 9th, 2000, I found my mother deceased in her home, in her bed. Then on February 1st, 2002, my sister's husband died from a heroin overdose, and I took custody of my 13 yr old and 15 yr old niece's, which I finished raising, while working, and going to school. Also, in 2002, I watched my stepfather grieve himself to death, over the death of my mother, dying himself in September of that year. Over the next several years, I continued to lose loved ones, such as family members, and close friends. In 2004, is when my sister (my niece's mother) came home after being in prison for one yr. Over the next several yrs, I had an affair off and on with a teenage sweetheart, who lost his 36 yr old wife, to a brain aneurysm. I had been with my husband for 15 yrs, but had been unhappy for a long time. I chose to stay with my husband, and ended the affair once and for all in 2008. Three yrs after ending the affair, I lost my husband of 22 yrs due to liver, stomach, and lung cancer, two weeks after being diagnosed. I am a recovery alcoholic, and drug addict. At the time of my husband's death I had been clean and sober for 24 yrs, when I relapsed smoking marijuana. For the next two yrs, I smoked weed on and off, but I am proud to say, I have been clean for two year's on Feb 6th. Only by the Grace of God, I haven't picked up a drink. I am a member of Alcoholic Anonymous. Also, I had an injury in 2000, while turning a patient by myself, when, I worked in a nursing home, in which I shifted my pelvic 11/2 inch off. I began having physical problems, along with other issues. I believe a combination of physical, and emotional issues, has played a large role in my condition? I also suffer with diabetes, chronic fatque sleep apnea, among other issues. Enough about about me!!

I had tennis elbow surgery, 6 months later diagnosed with interstitial cystitis, painful bladder disease, also an auto ammune disease, 18 months later Fybro...
I think my tennis elbow pain may have actually have been beginning signs of the actual fybro, and IC/painful bladder disease is stemming from the fybro...
But who knows all could also be coincidence.

I had a traumatic hysterectomy where the anesthesia wore off in the middle while I was cut open across my stomach. On the table I died and was revived. Because of the trauma, I died 3 times over a course of 5 days in the ICU and was revived. I have never been the same. I have had severe fibro ever since.

Il try to keep.it as brief as.pof.' but five yrs ago I went in for a tvt operation for stress incontinence, when I came round I was in agony. My pelvis as a whole was on fire. I couldn't sit or walk
. Eventually I managed to use crutches for very short distances but have to use a powered wheelchair most of the time. In the past five years I developed, myalgic encephalomyelitis, fibromyalgia, underactive thyroid, Addisons disease and sleep apnoea. On top of the unexplained agony of my pelvis.
After a load of tests and scans they couldn't find any real reason for any of it, or so I believed. Two years ago I found a Fb group called " Scottish meshes" on their page there is real and concrete proof and evidence, that the " mesh" used in a tvt operation to support the urethra has caused thousands of women all over the world, not only the crippling pain that I experience but also that it leeches chemicals into.the bloodstream causing the autoimmune diseases and many more conditions, so much so that the Scottish NHS has suspended it's use pending investigation, as have some states in the US. It has been in the newspapers and now the manufacturers, ethicon ( owned by Johnson and Johnson) have been successfully sued both here and in the US

It is another case like the pip implants, it will take years to uncover the true extent of the damage to those of us who have it and ethicon have recently withdrawn a certain kit, used in these ops from the market, citing "financial consideration" as it's reason. I'm now a part of a group called " sling the mesh" campaigning not only for mesh to be banned but also for " medical devices" to be required to undergo the same rigorous testing and trial periods as pharmaceuticals do
Sorry its so long but u did ask lol xx
