It is a self electrode treatment
I've heard the term, but did not know what it is. I've also heard there is a cream you can use that is to calm the nerve endings, but I can't find the name now.
I actually was prescribed a tens unit for my back. I've been using it for about a month and I found it really does help. Down side is that when I am in a fibro flare and my skin is sensitive I can't use the unit.

Someone posted a link to an article about it earlier, above. Go check it out for the details. ; )
I get some relief from my TENS unit but it's rather difficult for me to wear on my lower back & legs while I'm sitting or out and about. I am really interested in this product! The science behind it makes sense and the ease of wearing it really interests me. If it eases my lower back pain enough for me to be able to sit again long enough to return to work, I'd buy it! They have a 60 day money back guarantee too, I'd use it everyday for 58 days to make sure it worked for me! Now I need to find a way to come up with the money.
