I recently weaned myself off all of my medications and now I don't take anything and I'm struggling but with a clear mind.

Can anyone tell me of any holistic remedies I can take because I don't want to go back to prescription medications?

I am willing to try anything (within reason) because having suffered with this for over 30 years I think now is the time we take back control and not let the drug companies use fibro to keep us dulled and pliable to their products

For difficulty sleeping try the following: melatonin, valerian root, magnesium, sleepy time teas

For pain: tumeric, magnesium, stretching, heat, medicinal dose of alcohol (seriously from my doc's mouth)

Mental clarity (aromatherapy): basil, cardamom, dill, jasmine, lime, lemon, juniper, Rosemary

Joint pain (aromatherapy): marjoram, myrrh, sweet birch, for, wintergreen

Essential oils that help with pain: wintergreen, lavender, sandalwood, ginger, fennel, clove

Relaxation essential oils: marjoram, spruce

NEVER PUT ESSENTIAL OILS STRAIGHT ON SKIN! first mix with a carrier oil such. They may be used as massage oils, in a bath soak, or a compress

Hope this gets you started!

I can really recommend Magnesium Flakes ( ). They're different to Epsom Salts (. ) and work soooo much better for a super relaxing, pain-relieving Magnesium Bath. Use 2 cups Magnesium Flakes for a regular sized bath (I like to add a few drops of essential oils too) and lay back & soak for a good 25-30mins so your whole body can absorb the magnesium. You can actually feel it working within a few minutes as your body soaks it up. It relaxes tight, cramping muscles amazingly well and relieves spasms, stiffness, aches, tension and best of all it soothes those horrible deep muscle pains. And it feels sooo relaxing and comforting. 2-3 magnesium baths per week keeps your magnesium levels up nicely. There's nothing better ive found so far that's drug free. I mean, I do take prescribed meds now (thank goodness atm) but as part of my fibro 'toolkit' Magnesium Flakes are my number 1!
You can also use the flakes to make your own Magnesium Oil. Just mix mag flakes with some distilled water, plus a few drops of essential oils if you like, et voila! I pop mine in a little spray bottle (an empty shop-bought readymade magnesium oil bottle) and I get my fiancé to rub a few sprays concentrated where I get most pain (like, everywhere!) and it noticeably helps with that, definitely enough to keep bothering with.
I've found the magnesium baths especially good at night, along with some sleep-inducing essential oils, to help lower my tension levels and relax some before bed.
At night (as well as my meds) I also take Valerian pills (2x Kalms Night 'One A Night'), drink an organic herbal sleep blend tea, use calming/pain relieving/sleep-inducing essential oils with an electric diffuser in the bedroom (highly recommend) and I softly play a sleep CD - whether it be Yoga Nidra/guided meditation, sleep music, healing sounds, sleep hypnosis, sounds of nature, Buddhist chants, soothing classical or any music that really relaxes me - and then I haul myself into a nicely warmed bed with my wonderful heated under blanket (this has really helped my back and leg pain during the night and I wake up way less stiff and achey). I find an eye mask helps a little to block out any rogue light too.
For me a good nights sleep is the main player in controlling my pain (and fatigue, obvs).
Sorry for the long post - hope it helped someone a little!
Hugs to all
Marie x

I have recently been changing my soaps and lotions and cleaning products with non toxic ones. Doctors never think that maybe we are intolerant with the chemicals we expose ourselves to. Our country is the only one that does not have strict rules on what can go into our cleaners and soaps. Parfume and fragrance as well as aluminum found in deodorant can cause major problems in a persons body. I think people with fibromyalgia are extremely intolerant of these chemicals. I also just take flexaril and gabapentin in low dose at night. then potassium with magnesium and multi vitamin during the day. I was just existing with taking the meds and vitamins, but now that I changed my lotions and soaps for non toxic ones I can get up and go. I looked up non toxic company's and found one I like. look it up Ava Anderson non toxic. They will inform you and help you find what you need.
