Members widely agreed that brittle, breaking nails are a common frustration, with many suspecting connections to vitamin deficiencies (especially vitamin D), medication side effects, or fibromyalgia itself stripping away small comforts like healthy nails. Several members shared practical solutions that have helped, including biotin supplements, hair-skin-and-nails vitamins, gel nails or stick-on nails for confidence and protection, and keeping nails filed short to encourage stronger growth. A recurring theme was the emotional toll of losing yet another aspect of feeling put-together, balanced by the small joy of painting nails or finding creative workarounds to reclaim a bit of normalcy and self-care.

My nails have always been weak but they are worse now. I couldn't decide if it was another side effect of medication. I've been filing them regularly and keeping them low in the hope they will grown stronger. Also order stick on nails to try x

I have the opposite situation--extremely hard nails that grow rather quick. This has been the case my entire life but I think it has to do with having keratosis pilaris (buildup of keratin in hair folicles causing patches of small bumps--but keratin is also the main component of hair and nails). Maybe I'm lucky I've had those little bumps everywhere and it's saved me from similar nail issues! Good luck to you all! :)
