I have edema in my ankles. My MD thinks its from my bum knee, but its in both. I've been wearing slip on shoes to work because my tie shoes are hard to get on. By end of day I have fat feet and ankles. Just wonder if any of you have this. Thx! God bless!!

Edema can be an indication of heart disease, among others and should never be taken lightly. Your MD should be doing some tests to assess it's cause. It sounds like he is guessing! Keep your feel elevated whenever you can, wear shoes that support your feet but expand if they swell, and tell your MD you want a definitive answer about why it is happening to you.

I don't seem to have that but I know JC Penneys has some wonderful pantyhose that are for things like that. At least they used to and I had a friend that swore by them.

I also have swelling in my ankles, but when I asked my doctor she told me it was because I was old. I am 60 years old so I guess that is the issue. I still believe that they are worse because of the fibro because research has shown that the condition can cause problems with body temperature regulation and circulation. I just elevate my feet throughout the day and drink a ton of water. I have also worn spandex leggings when driving long distances and I believe it has help with the pain and inflammation some. Make sure you have blood work done to rule out any other health issues. Make sure that you are wearing socks that aren't too tight around your ankles. They make socks for diabetics that are wide at the top and stretchy. I wear comfortable clothes and bras without under-wires so I don't have pressure on my body from the pain with Chostocondritis and FM symptomatology. Loves

I do not have edema but my last wife did....her doctor told her to limit sodas or other caffeinated drinks...also use as little salt as possible. That helped her a lot. Maybe you can talk to your doctor to make sure your heart is working 100%. My wife ending up having co festive heart failure which meant she could not get rid of extra fluid. Don't want to scare you or anything but I am answering the best I can. My mom has edema in her ankles and should is 100% fine (heart etc) unfortunately she is in a wheelchair and lack of movement leads to hear edema. Are you diabetic? If so most health insurance companies will get you a pair of diabetic shoes yearly. That is the only way my mom can wear closed shoes. Hope this was of any help. Gentle hugs
