Members connected deeply over the shared experience of costochondritis alongside fibromyalgia, describing intense rib and chest pain that often mimics heart problems, worsens with stress, and makes even breathing or eating difficult. Several members found relief through anti-inflammatory medications like meloxicam, etodolac, or ibuprofen, along with heat pads, muscle relaxers, improved posture, stress reduction, and for some, avoiding bras or requesting workplace accommodations like standing desks. A recurring theme was the frustration of chronic pain that flares with weather changes and emotional stress, the challenge of finding medications that work long-term, and the importance of asking for help rather than shouldering everything alone, especially during difficult seasons or family gatherings.

Cost och on dr it is is something I have had on off over the years too. It's worse when work stress was high and if I was under emotional stress or anxiety for any length of time.
It's nasty as it affects the whole upper *Girdle* of the body. Taking anti inflamatories, heat pads helped and resting those muscle.
Can along be targeted by viral infection.

@A MyFibroTeam Member don't be afraid to ask for help. Easier said than done sometimes. I have a hard time asking for help especially when it's something Ive always been able to do alone...which has been alot since my first marriage was very one sided. Don't put all the stress on yourself!

I took meloxicam and it just didn't cover the pain I was feeling..that's when I got put on etoldac for it. I haven't really noticed any change but have only been on it for a couple weeks. I build up a tolerance to meds so fast we always have to change up something. It's very frustrating and makes me so emotional that nothing helps with this. I hate being in pain everyday when all I want to do is be active. I feel like I'm losing control of my own body.
And with winter coming I'm deathly afraid of my lower back acting up and not being able to walk again...I have nightmares about it. I am the care giver I don't want anyone to have to wait on me.

I just got diagnosed with it too...they put me on etoldac (sp?) It hasn't been helping,it's a little better than what it was. It used to hurt to sit...so my work raised my desk so I could stand and stretch and still reach my keyboard without having to bend. I have been trying to better my posture also. I've sprained my chest wall muscles too so that doesn't help. Right over my heart and along my sternum are the worse. I feel like the bones are broke or out of place. They also have me on tizanidine and vicodin..the muscle relaxer works and a heat bag or ice pack
