Not much help and it makes me severely nauseous.
It may be non addictive but it's definitely makes one dependent. On it for 6 yrs.... 100mg twice a day with a Panado. Lasts 12 hrs
I'm pain free when I use it so I'm happy. Have to eat when taking it or I get nauseous. Then there's dry mouth and constipation but other than that it's my miracle drug. I can skip my BP meds but not these babies.
Tramadol (or Ultram) is a great alternative. It's non-narcodic & non-addictive. It's better than over the counter pain relievers because it doesn't effect you stomach lining the way something like ibuprofen does. I also think it relieves pain better without causing a loopy light headed feeling or itchy skin feeling that some of the narcodic prescriptions can. I have been on it for years. Everyone's chemistry is different so any side effects you experience could be different than those others experience. I have been fortunate in that I haven't experienced nausea or other stomach discomforts from it but it does add to the dry mouth issue my other meds also cause. I can take it with or without food.
Do a little research on it to help you think about how it might effect or work with meds you might already be taking. And it could give you ideas about what effects to look for when you start it.
I always search on mayoclinic.org. Here's a link to their info about the drug (with a menu on the left side of the page of categories about the medicine):

Tramadol never touched the pain I had. I might as well have taken aspirin.
