Members shared their most trusted strategies for managing fibromyalgia flares, with the most common approaches being rest, heat therapy (heating pads, hot baths with Epsom salt), and anti-inflammatory diets like Paleo that eliminate sugar, dairy, and processed foods. Several members described practical remedies including staying hydrated, gentle movement when possible, pain medications like Tramadol or Gabapentin (though some noted limited effectiveness), muscle relaxers, topical treatments like Icy Hot, and detoxifying their homes and personal care products to reduce inflammation triggers. A recurring theme was the importance of listening to your body without judgment, communicating your needs to loved ones, and finding what combination of rest, warmth, nutrition, and medication works best for your individual experience with fibromyalgia.

Go back to basics. No foods that cause inflammation-sugar, flour things. Stick with paleo protein fruits and veggies.

Hi, I drink LOTs of water, eat natural healthy food every day! Read the label/ingredients on everything you eat/drink! Learn about and stay away from all the ones you can not pronounce toxic stuff!

During a flare, I love taking hot baths with Epsom salt, a bath pillow ( any drug store) essential oil and even bubbles. The bath ingredients help the pain and the bubbles help my mood!
I take Gabapentin and tramadol and combined they help some.
My doctor also had me try a compound pharmacy medication with gabapentin, it actually helps for localized pain.
Hope this help! I'm facing Widespread Fibro every day and with a Rare sleep Disorder.

I too have changed to a Paleo diet and find it has helped tremendously...Cymbalta and Tylenol PM ruined my liver so I am trying to restore it...Just eating what God made and nothing in a box or man made will help you greatly. I am sugar free, dairy free, and grain free. It is not easy in the beginning but you will see a big difference in about 2 weeks. All cravings go away when you nourish your body with what it needs to heal. Some foods cause inflamation which our bodies do not need. Give it a try and let me know what you think.

Heating pads are my go to. They always help, as well as taking 4 ibuprofen and lying down. I've been at this for 10 years and have pretty severe fm, these 3 things work for me.

I have been on Gapapentin for a long time. Does not seem to help.
