Members shared thoughtful advice for managing hip pain while side sleeping, with the most consistent recommendation being a pillow between the knees to keep hips and back aligned, an adjustment many described as essential for reducing discomfort. Several members found significant relief by upgrading their mattresses to memory foam, Tempurpedic, or adjustable Sleep Number beds that allow firmness changes mid-night when soreness strikes. A recurring theme was the balancing act of finding comfort through trial and error, whether through oversized body pillows originally designed for pregnancy, strategic use of heating pads, gentle exercise like biking to massage sore spots, or even cortisone injections for underlying conditions like bursitis.

I have to sleep with a pillow between my knees to keep my hips and back in line while lying on my side. I have slept like that for years. It helps me a lot.

I did the pillow between the knees also and almost always had a heating pad on. but what worked best for me was getting a new mattress. We invested in a tempurpaedic and it made a big difference. Recently I learned I have bursitis and since my cortisone injection the relief has been very helpful.

We ended up getting a tempurpedic bed. My hips no longer hurt, and I don't notice when my husband gets in and out of bed.

I bought a pregnancy pillow it circles you, you can use it to support your back, place part of it between your legs to support your hips. You just have to work with it to see what works for you. Babies R Us has a variety of them.

@aching hips Hi oh wow yes I have achy hips and I love laying on my sides. I get so frustrated trying to get comfortable I have trouble sleeping also and it can be aggravating. I flip flop until I can fall asleep. Not fun I haven't found anyway around it except and I just thought of this I bought a pillow that is really big and if I lay on that I should be ok. Good grief and I have been suffering!! I bought it in a magazine. They said it was good for pregnant women and women with Fibro . I don't know if I got it in Brylane or Sears. I am 5ft2 inches and it is long for me. Sometimes my husband gets upset cause he says it takes too much space! There are times I don't care about it taking up space. When I first got it almost 3 years ago I slept with it constantly, it helped with the pain. Good-luck please try to find that pillow ok
