What works best ?
I don't feel anti depressants do and don't rlly like taking those ?
I just wanted to say that no one should be put off of using antidepressant medication because of its use for treating depression. Many medications have been found to treat conditions other than what they were originally intended to treat. Antidepressants are routinely used by many to treat pain in patients who do not have and have never had depression. The doses used are differant . Also antidepressants could be safer for treating pain than some other pain medications as they were developed for long term use.whilst many strong pain killers were only developed for short-term use like end of life pain relief.
I take sertriline ( an antidepressant) paracetamol and ibuprofen ( but not that often now). I try to keep on the go with stretching exercises, mild physical exercise ie walking. Also have tried all the vitamins etc. ie magnesium ( which definitely helps with leg twitching and restless legs) , vit D, co enzyme Q10, zinc.
I'm new here, too. Just joined today. I have found the antidepressents stop working and make me gain weight (horrors!). I take Ultram on bad days, Ibuprofen most days. Some muscle relaxers make me depressed if taken on a daily basis. I like plain pain meds because I can take them "as needed" as opposed to every day. I don't like to take pills EVERY DAY if I don't have bad symptoms EVERY DAY. Ya know?
I use Lyrica. Two 50mg per day, Tramadol, one or two a day, arthritis pain formula, muscle relaxers, one or two a day, ibuprofen 800 as needed, vitamin D, tumeric capsules, Siberian Rhodiola for mental clarity, 5HTP for improved mood, magnesium citrate powder mixed in water (Calm) for muscle relief, and help with IBS, hot baths in epsom salts, baking soda and wintergreen alchohol, and rooibis tea a Trazadone for sleep.
