I am not sure if there is a connection between vertigo and fibromyalgia. If anyone does experience vertigo, has anyone had any success with vertigo treatment ??
I had 2 episodes of vertigo in the past 3 weeks. Vertigo is not the same as being dizzy or lightheaded. It's when the room feels like it's spinning and you loose your balance. It happens when there's a crystal or "otolith" floating around in one of the 3 inner ear semicircular canals. The motion of the crystal floating in the fluid makes you feel like you're moving. There's a quick exercise you can do that moves the crystal out of the canal. It's called the Epley maneuver. Here's a link. I did it myself with my husband as back up and my vertigo stopped. I wish my doctors told me about this. My doctors told me it was from low blood pressure and that I needed to take a medication to stop the nausea that was very sedating. If the Epley maneuver doesn't work then there could be another cause of the vertigo like a tumor. Hope this helps someone.
I have it and they put me on Teva-Betahistine 24mg,as I loss my hearing from my right ear when I get affected it's caused from my TMJ in my jaw.
I started having it back in January. My docs chalked it up to my Lyrica and Effexor doses being high, both which cause dizziness. I backed off on Effexor a little and it helped some.
I had an encounter with positional vertigo a few months ago and my dr said that fibro can definitely cause it but so can so many other things (inner ear imbalance, and other things- I can't remember at the moment). The only blunder though is that medicine for vertigo can cause dizziness- horribly ironic and unfortunate- there isn't a whole lot one can do except consult with a dr and hopefully find the cause of the vertigo and the fix for it. Good luck!!
I don't know if there is a connection but I do get it with heights.
