Has Anyone Had Eye Issues Connected With FMS?
A MyFibroTeam Member asked a question 💭

My eyes have been very dry lately (I'm using eye lubricating drops), very sensitive to light and teary. One of them just aches. and both feel very tired. Does anyone else have eye issues like this connected to FMS?

I get dry eye on a regular basis. I use eye drops the kind I used when I wore contact lenses, basically its saline . I do get what my eye doctor calls floaters. IDK it tiny stuff floating around my head. I've had times when I've woke up and it seems the "Sand Man" has dumped an entire bag of sand on each eye lid. I splash my face with water so I can open my eyes all the way when that occurs.

My eye doctor has special interest in neurology among the other special interest. Her office is at the hospital so the have equipment not seen at the average ophthalmologist office. When I first met her I just left the parking lot & she call and wanted to setup another test she was all in a panic. So I called my cardiologist and she called the eye doctor and explained that part of a major artery had been rerouted to my left arm to prevent me from loosing it. This surgery took place when I was about 11 months old. Never knew of this artery issue until about 5 or 6 years ago just thought the scar had to do with my heart surgery. Any way I really like my eye doctor (she has happy in her name lol). My cardiologist is excellent too.

Starlight did an optometrist or ophthalmologist diagnose you?

I know I have had issues for years, but optometrists don't seem to worry about it.

With constant dry, itchy, & burning eyes experiencing shock, I think I need an ophthalmologist for a more thorough exam.

I have to find one locally...any in northeast Ohio with a good reputation for helping us?

It's good to know that the pain and dryness is possibly due to the fibro.. . .

My eyes were so dry, everything was beginning look blurry. My eye doctor has me use eye drops everyday. & night gel for when I sleep. She recommend Refresh & Systane.
It has help a lot. It took about a week for me to start noticing a change.
