Recently I read an article about domestic violence and that there may be a link to developing Fibro symptoms many years after. It hit home with me, as from 16-18 I was with a physically and emotional abusive partner who threatened my life if I ever left. I did leave, but he stalked me for another year after. I thought for sure he would kill me. Fibro symptoms started in my late 20s.
All the research I have done explains that Fibro is in our body and is brought out my an emotional trauma or medical trauma. Most people with Fibro can think back and figure out, maybe, when that happened,
pain specialist, several years ago, told me that 70 percent of fibro patients were sexually traumatized. as in rape or molestation. I know 5 women who were raped and even more were molested children. NONE of them ever turned it in. that says that number of 70% is probably closer to 100%
I believe the emotional and mental stress of any abuse can be a trigger.
At the age of 10 I was taking care of my baby sister. At the age of 11 I was caring for my 2 siblings. While my mother drank and did drugs and got beating by her bf. We went into foster care for a year. Then back to my mom. Who continued to do drugs and drink and still got abused by her bf. Had another baby for me to take care of. Until finally she lost us. So at the age of 12 I was caring for 3 of my siblings like a mother should. Missing school. Not going with my friends. Basically being a mom of 3 at age 12. Finally we got put in foster care. And my siblings got adopted and I didn't c them for 12 years. Every night I would cry myself to sleep bc it was like taking my own children away from me.
