Medication Options Whilst Trying To Conceive

A MyFibroTeam Member asked a question 💭

Hi I'm in the uk, so might be a little different from the states... I was wondering what medications are ok for women trying to conceive. I'm not trying yet but hope to be in the not too distant future... My rheumy prescribed meds that can poss cause birth defects, so my gp advised against... Does anyone know of a list of or specific meds that are safe for pregnancy? I'm a pretty typical case of fibro symptom-wise... Many thanks :)

Members shared their experiences and advice about medication safety while trying to conceive with fibromyalgia, with several noting they had been told low-dose Cymbalta is generally considered safe during pregnancy, while others listed specific medications their doctors approved in the UK. Many members offered emotional support around the challenges of trying to conceive with a chronic illness, with one member sharing that pregnancy actually made her feel better than she ever had, providing hope to others navigating the fear and uncertainty. A recurring theme was the importance of consulting directly with doctors and pharmacists for personalized guidance, while also acknowledging the emotional toll of fertility struggles and offering encouragement that conception will happen when the timing is right.

I don't know of any but the prescribed vitamins and being pregnant made me feel better than I have ever felt.

Honestly... I kept thinking that because I have fibromyalgia my body just wasn't allowing me to get pregnant. I'm only on Cymbalta so that cant be the problem.... I guess I'm just not meant to have any more. 🥺😞
