I had to take cymbalta twice a day to get relief from it. I know that the brand version can keep you awake- so you want to take the two earlier in the day. One of the generic versions can make you sleepy. I don't know about the weight gain with cymbalta. Lyrics definitely causes it. Neurotin, or pregabalin- a cousin can cause whole body swelling. Lyrica just put me to sleep for weeks. It scared the crap out of me after 3 weeks of not being able to stay awake for more than a few minutes. The prescribing doctor wanted me to stay on longer to see if I got used to it, or got benefits. I have a friend that is a great neurologist. He said if you don't get benefits after a few days you won't, he also said sleeping for weeks was not appropriate. This may not fully apply to you- but I just joined and wanted this comment on the drugs to reach everyone since I don't know my way around yet. 😊

I'm finding out that all these medications, make me tired, in some way. Weight gain, dry mouth, constipation. You want relief, and then you have to deal with so many side affects....

Thanks. Great information. I've taken Cymbalta for close to 2 years now 120 mg. No weight gain, I do have pain and fatigue but have nothing to compare it with. Won't go near Lyrica, always seems they're adding on new side affects.
So, welcome to the group, I hope I get the chance to get to know you better

Peace and blessings

I've only used Cymbalta, it seems to help a little. But when I stop taking it, either it was withdrawal from the medication or it was helping more than I knew, my pain came back bad. After, tried Lyrica, had swelling and wooh! Flying with the first couple pills, went back to cymbalta.
