Is there anyone who was on Effexor and weaned off of it to another anti-depressant that worked just as well but with less withdraw effects? What other anti-depressant worked for you?
If I go 2 hrs past time to take it I start to get a weird sensation in my head. Then it progresses to dizziness, sick to my stomach, sharp pains in my head, and the brain zaps(I cannot describe the zaps} then I have to go to bed and I really think I would end up in the ER if I did not take one. What this has taught me is I do not take any new med without researching it, no matter what my doc says.
@A MyFibroTeam Member I'm on 300mg daily and it works great for my depression, but I want to try something else that would work, but not be so dangerous to miss. I totally understand the being scared thing. My anxiety is through the roof if I almost forget to take the med or if I think about changing, the withdraws are so crazy and horrible, I don't think I'll ever get off it, and that scares me :(
I take a 115 mg a day, I like it , it made me a lot more like my old self, more positive and happier, not dwelling on what I can't do anymore. The whole family noticed a difference.
I wouldn't be afraid of the withdrawal effects of Effexor. If you know that these problems are the withdrawal issue, you can get off it, carefully. The drug companies love these kinds of drugs. They have customers for life.
@A MyFibroTeam Member Have you ever heard of Dialectical Behavior Therapy ? I have studying this for 2 years and it works for depression and border Line. You can google it and get the lessons. I hope to be off Effexor by next year. I'm on 150 mg a day now for border line personality .
