Does Anyone Else Wake Up In The Morning Unable To Feel Their Hands? It Does Not Happen Every Morning But Every Two Or Three Days

A MyFibroTeam Member asked a question 💭
Brisbane, AU

Does anyone else wake up some mornings with hands that feel like they are not there, for a want of better explanation they feel like they are invisible, sort of. I get the feeling back within a couple of minutes after I get up and move about. My feet don't get as bad and they feel better after I take a couple of minutes to really stretch out.

Members connected over the unsettling experience of waking with numb or invisible-feeling hands and feet, with many sharing that the sensation resolves within minutes of moving around but can sometimes persist throughout the day or extend to legs and arms. Several members attributed the numbness to sleeping position and compressed nerves, while others linked it to fibromyalgia-related conditions like small fiber neuropathy or circulation issues, with one member finding relief through Cymbalta and another through pre-rising hand and foot exercises. A recurring theme was the frustration of managing yet another unpredictable symptom, the importance of distinguishing temporary positional numbness from chronic nerve issues, and the advice to consult a doctor if numbness lingers after waking.

I have continuous sumbness and tingling in my hands and feet. Have been diagnosed with Small Fiber Neuropathy in addition to my Fibromyalgia. Hate the pins and needs feeling but Cymbalta seems to help enough to make it tolerable.

numbness in hands and feet a upon waking may have to do with the position in which you slept. Nerves can get "pinched" just rolling over. If the numbness and tangling continue after you wake up and try moving your hands/feet and the problem stays around, you must contact your treating physician.

I get the same thing. It's been happening to me for yrs now. I hate it. Now I get it anytime of the day. It's also started going down my legs, and my feet. I just try to keep moving because Idk what the hell else to do!

I have numb hands and feet. I attributed it to my diabetes. I exercise my hands and feet before I get out of bed and they are good the rest of the day.
