Members confirmed that burning sensations in the feet and hands are indeed symptoms of fibromyalgia, often described as neuropathy with stabbing, burning, or crawling sensations that can occur throughout the body. Several members shared practical strategies that have provided relief, including gabapentin or neurontin medication, cooling methods like ice packs or cold water soaks, rubbing cool lotions on affected areas, magnesium supplementation (both oral and through Epsom salt soaks), vitamin B12, aspirin for blood vessel constriction, and combinations of ibuprofen with acetaminophen after checking with a doctor. A recurring theme was the unpredictable and painful nature of these symptoms, with many members expressing solidarity over the struggle to sleep and function normally, while encouraging each other to experiment with different approaches since what works varies from person to person.

@A MyFibroTeam Member This burning and fire like feeling is the nerves "misfiring" in your body. I used to have this symptom and I understand completely what you are going thru. This is very painful and when it was in my hands I would not even venture to go anywhere. There are ways to get rid of this but it may take a bit of time for you. If you will PM I can tell you what I have done to get rid of this an many other FMS symptoms. Look me up on FB, my profile is under Debra Jean Kelly Greene. I am going to write a book about my path back to better health. I lost my forties to ill health but now have my strength back. I will tell you in this post if you take Magnesium it will help your nerves so much. Out diets do not have Magnesium enough for our needs these days. Take at least 500 milligrams before bedtime, but you can take 750 mg to begin with for a few days to build up your blood. This is a mineral that our nerves MUST have for so many functions in the body. Befriend me dear, and I would be glad to chat with you. I have overcomes so much by my studies. I have a Masters in Vocational Rehabilitation so I have studied hard to rehab my own health. I had this same symptom....I may well be able to help you. Dear @A MyFibroTeam Member I had a podiatrist doctor a long time ago tell me to douse my feet in as cold of water as I could possibly stand. This has helped me for years now. The constriction of the skin, blood, and lymphatic fluid helps to move the toxins out of the feet. If my feet are burning hot or tired this works like a charm. Also you can detox your body by soaking your feet in Epsom salts and some baking soda. Be sure to scrub your feet thoroughly after you have soaked. Start the water as hot as you can possible stand it. This coping skill has been a part of my health protocol for the past couple of years. This gives my body magnesium through the skin during the soak. Taking magnesium by mouth also cured the neuropathy pain I had for so long in my hands and feet. Hope this helps you as much as it has me. Blessings sent from NC USA djkgcmsedu

@A MyFibroTeam Member I saw were you asked about help for peripheral neuropathy the tingle burning or itching feeling of the hands and feet or itchy skin. I personally feel all of these and also sometimes it feels like bugs are crawling on my skin but there is nothing there. Even a stray hair from my head will give me the "hee bee jee bees" ha ha ha. Well all of these symptoms can be helped by taking Magnesium. Our diets are very deficient in this mineral. There are several different kinds to take to help with this systemic problem. Soaking in Epsom Salts which are Magnesium Sulfate gives the body, cells, and nerves, a dose of magnesium. It is very healing for the body. One can and should soak in the tub or soak your feet in it. We can detoxify the body by soaking and scrubbing our feet on a daily basis. Throw in a handful of bicarbonate of soda commonly called baking soda as well. Use the water as hot as you can possibly stand it and soak for at least ten minutes. Pay strict attention to scrub your feet well. A pumice stone with a brush from the general store cost under two dollars usually. They are very beneficial to get the old skin off which needs to be sloughed off to get rid of the toxins. You will see the water is murky when you get finished. This practice alone will give you energy and help get rid of various toxins in your body as well as give the body the magnesium it needs. Epsom Salts can be used internally for a cathartic which is to help move your digestive tract along as well. So it can be used inside and out of your body. I personally take as much as 750 milligrams of magnesium by mouth one 250 dose with my breakfast or lunch and 500 mg before bedtime. Since I have done this in the past two plus years I sleep like a rock and my quality of life has vastly improved. Hope this is helpful for those who see this post. * Debra Jean Kelly Greene / MS Edu * FB profile name. I would be glad to chat.... I do not frequent this support group so very often. djkgc

I have alot of problems getting to sleep most nights because of the burning feet, then I get so tired that the restless leg starts in too... Sometimes taking ibuprophen with tylenol will help just enough that I can get to sleep, but you need to check with your doctor first to be sure you can take that. It could interfere or cause OD's because of the other meds you might be on. some of the narcotics have tylenol in them, some have aspirin. so check with your doctor.
The Ibu and tyl is all I take for pain control, I cant take the narcotics because I have so many medication sensitivities, which can be related to the Fibro too.
