I am gluten free (strict) because I had idiopathic neuropathy and a Dr. told me to try quitting gluten and it went away! So I have stayed gluten free since then. I have tried giving up dairy to see if it helps with fibro symptoms and it did not make a difference for me. I do feel like sugar and alcohol are bad - I mean I feel bad if I have them beyond a tiny amount. So I try to watch that. But everyone is different- good to experiment! Interesting thing about going off of gluten though- all my life I had kind of rough skin- it is called chicken skin or something (terrible name). When I was a little kid in the 70s my Dad took me to a Dr. who said to put Crisco on me! (Also terrible!). That did nothing and I hated it. Anyway I just learned to deal with it- use lots of lotions and whatever... Anyway long story short- when I quit gluten (at 37) it went away! And it has never come back.
Hi, There is a lot of written info on line about gluten and dairy affecting many people, especially us with fibro. Maybe worth giving it a try to see, and you may find that you don't have to go 100% gluten or dairy free, just reduce your intake and monitor the results you get. May only affect your digestion, but also may have a wider effect. There are also food sensitivity tests you could investigate - and maybe one of the local Natural Therapists or Naturopaths in your area or even your local Health Food Shop could give you more information about where you could get these tests done. Best of luck, but it is definitely worth looking into.
Thanks for all I'm also monitoring gluten I think it's bothering me Dr's doesn't believe but I feel it
I am gluten and lactose intolerant. Gluten gives me hives and messes up my digestion. I can have a small amount of dairy if I take lactase tablets with it. Both can put me into flare.
