They state that chronic pain is the result of unconscious learned neural pathways which do not switch off. That the pain that is felt in the brain is a result of neuroplasticity. They state that these learned pathways can be unlearned with therapy. This would be a wonderful breakthrough to help a lot of people
I want all opinions before I pay out for treatment. I feel hopeful. They also claim the nociopathic pain cannot be reversed as its ongoing pain caused by physical trauma. Iā¦ read more
I think it is therapy to understand why the pain exists so that it can be changed as all pain is felt in the brain. Not imagined but very real as the brain tells you you are in pain when you're injury has healed. They say that emotions in the brain produce pain too especially fear.
Hi, I have also been reading and researching this after my neurologist recommended Alan Gordon's The Way Out (his work based on Sarno and Schubiner), and after reading that I bought Schubiner's book Unlearn Your Pain which is a 28 day workbook basically. I have been just trying some of the somatic tracking exercises myself (and you can find free videos on youtube for this), to kind of try it out as I also don't want to spend a lot of money on treatment if it is not helpful. I do find it helpful. I think I am going to do the 28 workbook and see how it goes. I will report back. But the couple ones I did just finding them online seem to have gotten me out of a flare-up. It's interesting.
That sounds interesting.. I know everyone is effected differently. And definitely the brain pathways can be altered and new ones can be developed over time... Habit takes 21 days so why wouldn't the same work for nerve pathways?š¤·
I'm starting to feel better don't care why it's just great to have less pain and fatigue. My GP is on board. He says I will probably still have some osteoarthritis pain but I'm definitely going to carry on with the program
Happy Christmas š
@A MyFibroTeam Member That is such good news! And encouraging to hear! I am finding the same thing to be true. And the idea that fear can create pain- well that seems very relevant to me as I get very afraid of new symptoms and can kind of spin out. I am so glad it is seeming to help you and it gives me encouragement to really commit and try the program too!
