MRSA And FM. Is There A Link?
A MyFibroTeam Member asked a question 💭

been suffering with FM for over 30 yrs. I am a white male aged 76. I went to doctor to renew my medical marijuana card in PA. told him that I have a MRSA infection in my body. he said that this could be the cause of my FM. any internal long-term infection could be the link to FM. Have you every heard of this before? How can I check it out?

MRSA for that long? That's not good. I think any infection or trauma can set fibromyalgia of so I'm sure MRSA can.

I have heard of infections being the catalyst to the more severe, long term and increased variety of symptoms associated with fibromyalgia. May not necessarily have been the cause but could have been “the straw that broke the camels back” as they say.

I got an unknown viral infection overseas that put me in hospital. I have never really recovered. My list of symptoms just grew from that point in time.

This only my opinion, but I believe that this condition is genetic. Either dormant or ineffective enough to be recognised and diagnosed until our body experiences some form of trauma. Be it an infection, physical damage or mental which is well documented to have significant physical manifestations on the body’s functions.

I’m sorry I don’t know where to suggest you look into this. But if you do find anything please share your thoughts and findings.

Hope you find what you seek and there are more good days ahead for you.

So sorry to hear about everything you've been going through. After years of searching, I found something that helps me and you shouldn't need a Medical card to get it as it's hemp based and federally legal now in the US. If you want to check it out here's my story:
I was in a particularly bad flare and my son gave me a sample to try. 1/2 dropper under my tongue (light oil with a decent taste) and, in less than 15 minutes, I felt relief for the very first time in 25 yrs. of flares!!! The relief, on that small dose, lasted between 4-5 hours. I'm a believer!

I went on a trip around South East Asia and got what is thought to have been Epstein Barr virus. i believe it inflamed the Fibromyalgia I had had for most of my life.
