Does Anyone Else Feel A Flare After Exercising?
A MyFibroTeam Member asked a question 💭

After I exercise I feel pains all over. It almost feels like the flu is coming on. I feel achy and chills and sore. I can’t workout the way I used to as my legs feel sluggish and heavy and a bit uncoordinated. Today after playing tennis my hands felt stiff and locked. I wondering if anyone feels this way?

Yes, I learned it the hardway that even when you think your body can handle the activity, the body aches come in the next day and days later. You have to see what your new activity limit is. Mine is only 30 minutes of light activity: like walking or swimming. If its intense activity, just 15 minutes is my max.

I always feel drained after a workout. Exactly as you described, fatigue and uncoordinated

Yes I know what you mean I try to walk most days which is good although I'm alot slower these days and some days can get further than others still with pain around my groins knees arms shoulders ect and tired but if I try to do any other kind of exerciservice I'm the same flu type symptoms almost like I'm coming down withere the flu very achey extremely weak very sore all over and very shaky and off balance. Used to work out regularly before fibro gym body pump classes running to work ect and even have my ownumber exercise bike and cross trainer but if I attempt any of those I get drastic flu symptoms ect and all the above! Very frustrating ect isn't it! Gentle hugs to you. 💕💖

If you have chronic fatigue syndrome along with fibromyalgia you will get backlash pain from exercise. 75% of us have both. At times the tiniest bit of exercise can feel like a marathon. For me walking in a warm pool is the only exercise that doesn’t hurt.

A few weeks ago, I went on a hike with my family that was not strenuous. I felt great and had a wonderful time. The next morning, I had the worst flare I ever had! Pain so severe all over, I was trembling and my teeth were chattering! Nothing I usually take worked and I had to contact my doctor. She had to put me on an opiod. It took a week for me to recover. I can no longer vacuum, pick up anything more than 5 lbs and it my hands start hurting if I overuse them. No more exercise for me..
