Good Morning Everyone! I Have A Question For Those Willing To Share. Diet Question.
A MyFibroTeam Member asked a question 💭

Good morning everyone!
I have a question for those willing to share.

I recently had gallbladder surgery and pancreatitis and struggling to regulate my digestive system, sugar and blood pressure.

I'm looking into diet lifestyle changes and I'm researching keto diet, Paleo diet, South Beach diet and low carb low fat diets.

If you or someone you know has had experience with any of these diets I would appreciate information and experiences. Please share?

I am vegetarian and also suffer from fructose malabsorption.
But, I wil say try to consult with a dietitian because you have to take into consideration many things and what works for one may not work for others.
As of now just focus on recovery given you had surgery and avoid greasy food
Hope you recover well

I have found that the Keto diet really helps. I have lost some weight, less pain, less brain fog and better bowels. My doctor has adjusted the Keto diet slightly in that he recommends 20-25% good carbs. The hardest part was not eating a lot of fruit and making my own bread. Hope this helps.

I’ve done Keto and lost 50 lbs on the diet. It’s very restrictive and probably not the best long term but if you aim to lose weight it really works. Just make sure you eat enough fibre since grains are severely restricted as are many fruits. I am now currently on the Paleo diet after having read about all the numerous diets out there.... anti histamine, anti inflammatory, fodmap, eliminating nightshade veggies, etc., etc...... It can be so confusing and make your head spin. But what I’ve read just about everywhere is that people with FMS and/or CFS/ME do better on lower carb diets. What attracted me to a lower carb diet such as Paleo, but less restrictive than the Keto, is how it helped reduce the brain fog and helped manage my IBS-D. Paleo is also a bit harder to get used to since you have to eliminate all grains but it seemed to make the most sense to me. There’s a series on Netflix called Paleo way. It’s very interesting and that as well as reading sold me on it. It’s very easy to follow the Paleo diet while at home but I admit less so when going out to eat.
If nothing else, eliminating sugar and processed foods with this condition is highly advisable and you may see a difference doing just that. I think everyone is different in what works. Best of luck. 🤗🤗

We’ve done low carb Atkins three times. The first two were for three years each but then long distance moves came along with new regional foods that we had to try. This diet worked wonderfully for us, my husband is diabetic and his A1C is so good he was able to go off his Metformin which is a diabetic medication. He also walks three miles a day, but that’s only recently and we’ve been on lo carb again for a Year. It also reduced our cholesterol. If you do low carb google the Atkins book on line and read it thoroughly. It’s a lot more than counting carbs and it will teach you how foods interact with your body. Your problem might be that it does allow a lot of fats. For instance you are allowed butter bu not margarine and cream but not milk. We lose weight and inches so fast I sometimes worry we have cancer but of course we don’t. When not losing pounds we are losing inches. I was t ne time having gall bladder symptoms like pain in my upper back between my shoulder blades and I don’t get that any more. Good luck with what you choose.

After my gallbladder was taken out, foods I ate were on an immediate slide to the bathroom. ( it can be terrifying if your out and about) I started adding more vegetables for the bulk and it helped. It was 33 years ago. I get times when it still happens, but not nearly so bad. Also add rice, barley and broccoli too they seem to help
