Fibro Or Polycythemia Versa
A MyFibroTeam Member asked a question 💭

I'm new here and for about 4 years. I have struggled with extreme itchiness during summer after a shower. It is unbearable between 30 mins to 2 hours.
I have read that this might be related to Polycythemia Vera rather than Fibro.
I also suffer from heart palpitations, fatigue and high blood pressure. I'm kind of scared because I can feel it's something serious.
Does anyone have or suffered same?

you could try suppliment P.E.A. ( Palmitoylethanolamide ) which is the same as the compound on the nerves that deals with pain.

I was Regist Nurse, had Fibro for 50yrs.
Is it worse with hotter water ?
It is prob the nerves to the skin being hypersensitive - all our nerves are constantly in a " jangle" hyperstimualted - no-one knows why, yet.
- I found almost cold showers in Summer were a great help. my skin is so sensitive when I used to go shopping it was agony to try on more than 3 things in a day - my Mother couldn't believe it but did believe me. thank goodness. I'd forgotten tha rule that I have to live by......

I do get the "itches" very bad after a shower, sometimes it starts even before i get out of the shower. Being an old pharmacy tech, i make my own concoction to help it. get 1oz tube of hydrocortisone cr 1%, 1oz tube of generic benadryl cr and mix together. the last batch i made i put some vit e oil, 5 drops and some cbd oil, 5 drops. the last 2 are up to you. the e is good for the skin. i put it on as soon as i get out of the shower after pat drying. i get the worst of it on my arms from shoulder to wrist. it takes about 30min to work completely. i also use eucerin calmning cr . i hate taking showers just for this reason

i usually get the most itchy while trying to sleep. it's annoying. it's usually my hands and face. i do get itchy on my body as well even throughout the day. i had horrible heart palpitations for some time. they've pretty much stopped now but every so often. i was also diagnosed with tachycardia due to fibro. people discount the seriousness of fibro. trust me it's just as serious as any other disease. it's just taken very lightly in the medical community. it's sad but you'll get used to it. keep up in here so you have support. the high blood pressure could be worse due to stressing. usually there are other reasons for high blood pressure like weight problems. but fibro causes weight problems due to inability to exercise. there are so many layers to fibro. probably the longest list of symptoms you will ever see for an illness. keep your head up and try to stop stressing out and worrying. it just makes the fibro worse honestly. if you're ever in doubt ask your fibro doctor. i say the fibro doctor because if you begin telling a regular doctor everything he will label you a hypochondriac. trust me, you don't want that. then the doctor will just make you feel even worse. your fibro doctor is your new family doctor.
