apparently this boold test looks for cytokines in the blood ,, this is a general term as there are severay kinds of cytokines in the blood,, however specifically there are inflammatory cytokines and anti inflammatory cytokines. In trying to hunt down more information on this i did find that stress plays a factor in the inflammatory cytokines.

I don’t think I would try an RA drug. My sister-in-law doesn’t have RA but she does have lupus. Her doctor put her on methotrexate (it’s for RA) now she is having lung problems caused from the methotrexate. We are damned if we do and damned if we don't🙁
I am seeing my Primary Care doctor today and plan to ask him about the FM/a test. Personally, I think that if it gives more diagnostic validity to the patient, it may well be worth it. Also, being a cancer survivor, it is very easy (and actually wise) to begin to question symptoms of fibromyalgia as to whether something else is going on...and as we all know, there is no end to that! That being said, even if fibromyalgia is diagnostically "proven" there still could be "something else going on" and ultimately will be other conditions that develop throughout life, but that sense of validation, I believe, is very important. Though cognitive problems directly from the condition seem to cause a physiological response of depression and anxiety, there is an added level of those mental states that we can take charge of...and less mystery about the illness could help that process.
I am very skeptical about this FM/a test. It’s been around for about 7 or 8 years now. From my research it’s only EpicGenetics that does the test and several people were duped into doing the test because they thought their insurance covered it....only to get a large bill saying it wasn’t covered. It is also not FDA APPROVED, only FDA compliant. The Mayo Clinic states “While there is no lab test to confirm a diagnosis of fibromyalgia, your doctor may want to rule out other conditions that may have similar symptoms” Too many red flags for me
that is true,, boy my spelling above was awful,, sorry but i think ya'll understood,, i was poking around for diet/meds to treat this kind of excess cytokine in the blood,, i'll post more if i find anything
Penelope i agree ,, but there might be something to the inflammatory cytokines as these are real things ,, all the references i could find so far ( i havnt looked to deep) talk about meds for RA though ,, i did post another question to this board asking if anyone has had an success taking RA like meds for fibro,,, i just wonder if there isnt a medication out there already that might benefit us now,, there are many references to Anti seizure meds, or RA meds or ?? on and on,, not sure i want to be a guiena pig though ,, even though it feels like we all try to fiture out our own coping/meds anyway Im a baby boomer and it seems like there are just going to be more and more of us yelling for help in the next decade
