Ever Concerned It’s More Than Fibromyalgia?
A MyFibroTeam Member asked a question 💭

So as we all know fibromyalgia comes with full body pain in different areas throughout your body on different occasions. It can be quite uncomfortable. My concern are the other symptoms that come along with fibromyalgia. Examples are dry mouth, twitching muscles, muscle spasms, nerve disorders interstitial cystitis , etc. Lots of times I wonder is it all fibromyalgia or is it anything else, such as multiple sclerosis, Parkinson’s disease, ALS etc? And of course all this can cause anxiety and… read more

Too many of us have many other issues in addition to Fibromyalgia, so my suggestion is to talk with your doctor about it. I didn't want to add anything else to my large repertoire of "issues" but just yesterday I had an appt. with my Rheumatologist and he wanted me to be tested for Sjorjens syndrome - I don't have the name exactly right. He said it just took a blood test, so I agreed to the test. He gave me a booklet on it which I haven't had time to read yet, but it is basically dry mouth (which I have) and several easy remedies for it. If we can use other procedures, methods or medicines to take care of these other issues, it just makes life more comfortable for us, and that's what I want for me!

Before I was diagnosed with Fibromyalgia, I thought I had Multiple Sclerosis and Lupus. It was scary for me. I worried about it a lot. I found my self reading all that I could about these diagnoses and it just increased my concern. Once fibromyalgia was confirmed, I finally decided to stop researching on my symptoms because dwelling on it made me worse. Now I just pray about it and live my life the best that I can. Having a support group helps a lot.

susan, I may have this backwards, but I think you post it on the home page of the person you wish to have it. That way, they can see it, but no one else can.

I harrass my doctors quite frequently with some 'new' pain that starts. Sometimes it's been nothing, something other than fibro. It's always worth getting checked out if only to put your mind at ease.

With fibro, a lot of the body's processes that rely on the central nervous system don't function properly. That's why it carries symptoms like muscles spasms, IBS and lots of other symptoms that mimic other illnesses, under it's umbrella.
Usually the medics have ruled out everything else before the fibro diagnosis.
It's so important to look around and find a medical team you can trust and work with especially your G.P, as you will be working wih them a lot. It really makes all the difference.
