Can anyone recommend a brand and dose of magnesium malate that has worked well for them? Thx
I have Natural Calm (magnesium citrate) around 3:00 p.m. - heaping teaspoon in hot water - and then take a Jamieson's Magnesium Night (a combination of magnesium and melatonin) around 9:30 p.m. This combination seems to give me a good amount of magnesium and doesn't cause "loose stool" - for me anyway. I certainly know when I've not had my hot cup of "mag" at 3:00 p.m.
I use “NOW” brand Magnesium Malate. Everybody’s dosage is different. Some only take it at bedtime. I take mine throughout the day with each meal. Your dosage should be one pill less than causes a loose stool/diarrhea. So if 3 pills cause a loose stool and 2 doesn’t, your dosage should be 2 pills. Now you just need to figure out how many times a day you need to take 2 pills to help relieve muscle soreness and fatigue. I take 2 pills in the morning, 1 with lunch and 2 with dinner.
I have IBS and I couldn’t take anything for that my doctor gave and the only then that helps me with my IBS is Imodium this is the only medicine that I can take that will help me
@A MyFibroTeam Member, the OP is asking about Magnesium not a prescription drug.
@A MyFibroTeam Member, I never tried Magnesium Malate. I started taking Magnesium Oxide 500mg a day for fibromyalgia, I don’t remember if it helped with fibro, but it definitely helped with my IBS-C.
Also have IBS with constipation. And oh yes pain meds will make it worse.
Would love to try more magnesium. At present I take magnesium tissue salts (not a salt, but tabs that dissolve under the tongue) they are from the health store. Would love to try the mag malate as have heard good things about it.
And Natural Calm.
