Which Medication To Try Next?
A MyFibroTeam Member asked a question πŸ’

I'm seeing my doctor tomorrow for the follow up of the flare I have since May.

We have tried :
-Zoloft
-Added Bupropion for the fatigue
-Added Lyrica
-Getting off of Zoloft to add Cymbalta instead

If you had a similar path, what did you try next?

P.s. please no mention of CBD oil and/or cannabis. I'm hot on going there and certainly not ready to try them on just yet.

Thanks

Ask about LDN (Low Dose Naltrexone 1-4 mg.) I've read wonderful results from this. My doctor started me on 1 mg. (this is an off label use of this medication) and, after 4 weeks, I've noticed a decrease in flares and intensity. Many have written that it's given them their life back. There are little to no side effects. Some reported more vivid dreams. I can live with that!

I am currently on lyrica and cymbalta. Once my dr found the right dosage for me i have found my symptoms to be reduced and my flairs are never as bad as they used to be. I also take codeine daily for the chronic back pain from an injury. Flexeril for the spasms, and clonodine for my hot flashes/sweats. Also i use melatonin at night for sleep. So far this combo helps me significantly.

I spent many years trying medications...to no avail, with major side effects. So, 15 years later, I do acupuncture. My meds are lisinopril for blood pressure. Pravastatin for cholesterol. Meloxicam for bad pain days, methocarbanol for bad stiffness days. Albuterol for asthma days. Prilosec for stomach issues. I take low dose edible and CBD for sleep. I still flare, but feel I am no longer out of control. Acupuncture has been a god send. Pain is still constant, but at a much lower manageable level. I have come to terms with this being a lifelong condition, and act accordingly. Resting up before, and after a big event. Saying no, when I know it is detrimental to my well being, and trying to have a grateful heart, even when I hurt, and want to lash out.

I tried amitriptyline - awful,
Gabapentin, worse.
Pregabalin - terrible!
Duloxetine - even worse.
Was finally offered Tramadol and after starting night time only for a couple of weeks (as it made me a bit sleepy) I increased by 1 every other morning, until 1 morning and 1 at night. Need to not mix with alcohol. It really dampens my pain down to around a 3 instead of 8-9. I've been using it for nearly 2 years. It works well for me along with 1 Zoloft in the morning.
I use an ibuprofen pain gel (prescription strength) if I have specific area pain, like knees or lower back.
It's totally trial and error.
We all seem to react to meds differently.
Good luck finding what works for you. πŸŒΈπŸ¦‹
