Same. It took me 2 years of testing and retesting before anyone would make an actual diagnosis on me. I can tell you that some of the tests I have done prob at least 10 times. And then about just over a year ago I went to an RA dr for other symptoms and issues I was having and I told her my history etc she looked at all my tests etc and then she did the old school fibro test with pressing the pain points and diagnosed me on the spot then. But again- it took 2 years of testing and ruling everything else out before anyone would say yes you have fibro. I pray they can figure it out fast for you so you can get some relief- STAY STRONG 💪
Quite possibly as the symptoms are similar to many other dieases. If you feel you have been misdiagnosed ( or you have concerns or questions regarding your diagnosis) please discuss them with your primary care provider.....they can refer you to other doctors that may be able to confirm or dispute the original diagnosis.
I have often wondered this but luckily, despite a very busy/stressful summer, I seem to be able to control my symptoms so it is not on my mind as much.
I hope you are well and are able to manage... my thoughts are with you.
I think there are quite a few doctors who misdiagnose people with Fibro. I have been rediagnosed multiple times throughout the years because I was always fearing it was something else and not being treated correctly. No matter what the specialty the doctor had I always had the same diagnosis. Blood work, x-rays, nerve tests, muscle tests, get everything checked to rule it out. That is how it is supposed to be, ruled out by everything else before diagnosis. However, I know people who complain of pain for months, go to the doctor, just get some blood work and get diagnosed. I think it should be more of a workup. I had major workups to confirm my diagnosis. Others have vitamin deficiencies or auto-immune disorders that they still diagnose as fibro when it shouldn't be. I recommend you get a second, third and fourth opinion, I did.
I think that fibro is related to MS. It is caused by brain inflammation and the inflammation is in the immune cells of our brains, the microglia. There is a researcher Jared Younger out of Alabama studying the condition. Check him out.
It took me 5 years of pain. Dr's thought I was crazy. Finally went to an RA and was diagnosed.
