I’m going off Amitriptyline after 8-9 months on 30mg every night. I have gained 28 pounds in this time period, my Restless legs syndrome has worsened, and I have much difficulty urinating. This has done absolutely nothing for my pain relief. Now my Dr. is putting me back on Gabapentin. I lost 35 pounds while taking 300mg of Wellbutrin xr, and for the past 2 weeks back on it. It did wonders for my depression and fatigue too. The Gabapentin didn’t seem to cause a lot of weight gain with me… read more

I took gabapentin for several years, it made me gain weight and I puffed up like water balloon. Made me feel worse. Told my dr and he took me off of it, puffiness went away and I lost some weight! But my legs still hurt, neuropathy and restless leg, do he put me on ropinirole. It has helped but still not enough. So he put me on cymbalta, new generic form - duloxitine. It is really helping! Plus I’m losing weight!!

I take 50mg amitriptyline and it really helps with the morning stiffness and pain, although it does make me feel a bit groggy when I wake up. I'm not sure if I've put weight on as I've got underactive thyroid too.

I tried Gabapentin but I am allergic to it. I do take 25 mg amitriptyline but I do not take it every night.. I only use it for bad flares. It has worked well for me using it like this.. no weight gain here.
