Coming Off Painkillers With Having Fibro :(
A MyFibroTeam Member asked a question 💭

I have had fibro for a few years and am currently taking Cymbalta, Topiramate (for Migraines) and recently changed Gabapentin to Pregabalin, so on 25mg twice a day. However I have changed doctors surgery and my new G.P, although really good, have said I have a painkiller addiction (zapain) and overusing which is causing me massive headaches and she has great concerns about near future liver damage. Also I was taking quite a bit of Tramadol due to zapain giving me headaches! The doctor wasn't… read more

Have you considered staying on Toprimate and letting go of the other meds? I know Toprimate can be hard on the kidneys but i don't believe it to be hard on the liver. I am on toprimate 300mg extended release for epilepsy.

I found it helps allot for my pain relief and mood stabilization. I see you said you suffer with migraine and i feel toprimate is probably very helpful for that.

Are you going off of each med individually? And weaning safely?

I hope you find relief soon.

Kratum seems to help with my pain and i have managed to steer clear of the common Fibro go tos. I take occasional Gabapentin and methocarbamol , I am not sure of the spelling on these meds (sorry) Mostly I try to stay natural with cbd for pain cbn for sleep and Kratum for tension, pain and sleep. Medical Marijuana has been very helpful but you have to research what strains work for your particular issues. Just using any marijuana may not help at all. Tramadol Is pretty extreme I wouldn't go there for Fibro unless you absolutely have to. I find that Drs. are pretty eager to shut us up so they will give you pretty much what you ask for so just be careful what you ask for, you might just get it (and it may do more harm than good)

I’m also on cymbala and I feel great relief from it. Going off it is not an option I would do as the pain of the withdrawal from cymbalta is no joke. I tried once and never again. Along with flexeril at bedtime I get pain relief where I can get a few hours of sleep along with gabapentin.

Thanks Mark anything is worth a go, I didnt find Gabapentin any good which is why I changed to Pregabalin to see if it would make a difference. I will try what you have suggested as I am in so much pain I will try anything and open to options. Thank you for your help...take care 🙂👍
