Migraines
A MyFibroTeam Member asked a question 💭

Anyone have trouble with headaches turning into daily migraines. Taking Sumatriptan does help with the migraine but still have the lingering headache. Feels like it all starts from my neck so I am having a CT guided injecion in my C5/6 next week. Not sure if this is from fibro flare or just a symptom that has come on. Has been going on fior about 8 months. Have tried many other Meds as a preventive for the migraines but nothing had worked so far and I dont see the sense in staying on meds if… read more

I've had 3 herniated disc fused in my neck c3 to c5. Done in 2000. Have the worst pain in my neck and head at times. Depending on the pain or flare I het muscle spasms in my head. They hurt so bad and they are so scary. I've had cat scan done showed nothing. When all your muscles in your shoulders and neck are inflamed also effects the head as well. That's what my Dr. Told me. I live on muscle relaxers 1 everyday when bad I'll take 2 and I take an extra gabenpentain and rest. Hope you start to feel better. Hugs and Prayers

I have a herniated disc in my cervical spine. It causes migraines, constant headaches and neck pain. I totally understand your pain.

So sorry for your pain. I was diagnosed with chronic migraine in 2013. Yes, it is true you can get dependent on the meds, but that is why sumatriptan and other triptans have a warning not to exceed 4 tabs a week. It seems cruel, but dependent migraines are worse.
I have been getting Botox injections in my scalp and around the trigeminal nerve, and back of neck. They have helped tremendously. Then they became less effective. I began to have what they call vestibular migraine. This is severe vertigo, with or without severe head pain. None of the preventive meds helped and drove my blood pressure down too low. This past fall, 3 new preventive drugs came on the market. It has been a miracle for me. Ask a doctor or look them up. Just write in "New migraine shots." You take once every 3 months by shot. I have tried 2 of the 3, and both worked great without any side effects. Of course, you still need your sumatriptan for when you do get a headache. It has cut mine from about 15 a month to about 6. Before Botox, I was having 22 headaches monthly.
Please see a neurologist who specializes in migraines. Migraine sufferers get about as much empathy as fibro patients. Most think it is just a headache. Get a specialist.
Hope it goes well for you. God bless.💙💙💙
