This was my full question.. I have an appointment on the 22nd with a pain management dr and don't know what to expect.. this is mainly for my fibro management and mobility problems with my legs.. any info would be great.. I asked this before but just got answers about some classes someone took..
The appt went well.. he just used my gabapentin to 800mg 4xs a day.. he called the breakthrough point.. also is trying to schedule an MRI of my lower back for the leg issues..
Thank you all the help.. I'm staying away from injections.. I know they help some like me mom with her and fibro and other health issues but I'm not willing to do it.. I go in a few days so I'll see but I was seeing a rheumatologist but I moved and they don't see anyone from fibro out here..
I have been to pain management, didn't care for it.he wanted to give me injections, so I let him. Made things worse. I was a nurse also. But I told him I didn't want the injections no more, one Saturday morning he gave me them, Sunday I was worst and fell, my leg went out from under me. Not telling you not to, that's your decision, but alot has told me it has made them worse also
I've felt primarily with arheumatolgist for past 7 yrs, but really wanted to know what else could be done without using narcotics (I'm not judging anyone who gets benefit from them, only that it's not a road I'mwilling to go down right now). So, I did consult with pain mgmt just a few weeks ago. I've been warned away from any of the IV infusions (I'm a nurse with lots of contacts, who just havent seen the benefits to make it worth the large expense- often not covered by insurance). He's just put me into physical and occupational therapy to keep myself moving. I also did some trigger point injections with Lidocaine and cortisone in my low back- pain free for a whole week. I'm going back for injections in my neck soon. Praying it helps, good luck!
In my first appointment the doctor had me fill out several forms to show where my pain is and symptoms. Then when I got in to see him he booked me for IV lidocaine infusions. The apt was less than 5 minutes.
