Easily Injured, Longer Healing Time, How Do You Know When A Pain Is Cause For Concern?
A MyFibroTeam Member asked a question 💭

Do you injure easily? Do things take longer to heal and how do you know if, for example you have a torn ligament when it is actually healed? Does the pain feel worse for us with fibro when we actually get an injury? Would appreciate everyones opinions and experiences thank you.

Before I was diagnosed and knew I had fibro... When I got hurt, ligaments in the ankle and even a bump on the shin felt like I broke my leg and tore of my ligaments... went to the doctor and got xrays, nothing wrong, but I got an injection for pain in the ligaments. The pain staid for almost a year in both occasions eventhough they were within 2 weeks of each other. Till this day it's tender to the touch and some times it's blue again. I experience that pain lasts a lot longer with fibro

My tooth infection caused a flare, so I guess my body over reacted to it. But to my surprise the extraction went well- mini flare for 10 days but the healing time was normal. That surprised me ☺.

My doctor told me to expect all my healing, recovery, etc. to take twice as long because of the fibro. That has proven to be fairly accurate for me. Yes, doctors and personal experience tells me that our pain is greater. Not happy to know that, however, it helps with planning.
