Has Anyone Had "restless" ARMS?
A MyFibroTeam Member asked a question 💭

Last night I had a nightmare of pain and restless arms for over 30 minutes that seemed like an eternity. Years ago, I had restless leg syndrome, which was awful and kept me awake many nights, but the intensity of this was MUCH more than the legs. I've NEVER felt anything like this in the over 36 years I've been sick. I woke up in the middle of the night and was all right for a few minutes, and it hit. I was hurting so bad that I reached for a half a Baclofen (muscle relaxer), which, after 10… read more

It took me awhile to get the most helpful dosage - I upped the dosage every week to see what the least amount of magnesium would work. Eventually, I found the dosage that helps to fullest extent. I had tried several other things - pickle juice, tons of tonic water, etc. Nothing helped as much as magnesium.

Always, always check with your doctor about taking supplements

@A MyFibroTeam Member, I do take magnesium supplements daily, so unfortunately, that won't be it, but thanks.
Last night, when I couldn't sleep, I realized I left out some important information. I've been having severe leg cramps recently, and have been drinking diet tonic (diet due to pre-diabetic condition). I also got some "leg cramp" relief pills the other day, mostly natural, and had been taking them for 3 nights. They have been helping the legs,....until last night, the 4th night, when they cramped again, and I had to drink the diet tonic again. At least it works and is cheaper than the pills.
I dunno.

@A MyFibroTeam Member, thanks. I never thought about different dosages of magnesium. I see my Dr next week, and I'll ask her. thanks.

also, @A MyFibroTeam Member, good to see you, too. I mentioned taking the rx's because it's unusual for me to get extras. It was so bad, i needed help for the pain and tension in the arms. If I could stop that, I could sleep, but I don't take Xanax to sleep. I know that's not a good idea!

Try taking magnesium supplements daily. They are inexpensive. Your nervous system needs magnesium to fire the right kind of signals to the rest of your body. Medications deplete magnesium in the body - and this scrambles the signals that your nervous system is sending.

I haven't heard from you in forever, which means I can't remember much anymore. I hope you are doing ok. I have twitching legs before I go to sleep. Sometimes Cymbalta can cause that and shaking and ringing in the ears.
Please be careful with Xanex. I have it but I don't take it because I'm on NOrco. I'll take a muscle relaxer but I don't know if that's better. I also try a you tube video of crashing waves or something. All that sleep/pain meds combo is deadly. I am sure you've heard it before.
I've had my hip lock up after laying down for a while. Not sure how that was. Stretching helps me, also helps me to fall asleep except for my right side-shoulder surgery, not fun
God bless you!!! I hope you can get relief from Restless Leg Syndrome or what might be causing it.
Gentle hugs
