A MyFibroTeam Member asked a question 💭

Again tonight...it’s very concerning. And research just shows weakness. I’ve had blood work done and shown low vitamin d and hypothyroidism. Is it common to not be able to move parts of your body randomly at night when you’ve done active things (shopping, cleaned out dishwasher and loaded dishes) it’s scares me when I can’t move my legs on my own. It’s a tingly and eventually cold sensation.

It can be caused by fibromyalgia but since you have hypothyroidism it can cause the symptoms that you are describing. Also in 2017 they did a study where they found that it takes people with Fibromyalgia 48 hours to recover from stressful situations or over exertion.

@A MyFibroTeam Member, I have had Fibromyalgia for around 25 years and I know that I need to take it easy on things. It is just that after not being able to do anything for a while then I end up getting out to do things. I haven't worked since 1990 when I got married and moved to Tennessee. We knew that we would probably have to move from our hometown so I had started to work at Kmart because we thought that I would be able to transfer to another store. I ended up being lied to by the personnel manager at the store that I was working at. She told me that I would have to quit working at the store and then reapply at the store in the town that I moved to. When I moved and I was told that they weren't hiring and it was a small town that we moved to there weren't any places hiring especially since I wasn't from around here. I decided to just take time getting used to being married. My husband was going to have to go to Michigan for training and I was going to go with him. When I finally did get a job is when I started to get sick. It started out with bronchitis and pneumona. Then I was in a hit and run wreck that shook me up. The doctor that was treating me for bronchitis was having me come in every week and all he did was to prescribe antibiotics. Then after the car wreck and being in pain all of the time I told him that I thought that I needed to go to a rheumatologist. He made an appointment with one for me and that is when I was diagnosed with Fibromyalgia Back then they didn't know very much about Fibromyalgia or how to treat it. All they would prescribe were anti depressants and NSAID's. I ended up going to 3 or 4rheumatologists before I got fed up with them. The only good thing to come out of the first doctor that was treating me for bronchitis is he sent me to an allergist. The allergist is who ended up treating me for Fibromyalgia. He treated me for 20 years and until he retired in 2015. He ended up retiring because he was fed up with the changes that were being made in the healthcare system. He has Fibromyalgia himself so he was willing to listen to what I had to say or read articles that I took to him. That is how I managed to get on fentanyl patches. I had read an article where they were doing a study on using fentanyl patches on people with Fibromyalgia. When I started using the patches I couldn't believe the change in how I felt. I was able to start walking at the park and going to the store. I'm hoping that when the weather gets warmer that I will feel like doing things.Thank you for thinking of me. I appreciate it. I will be thinking of you too.

@A MyFibroTeam Member, I wish that I could get down into the tub but I have so much wrong with my back that I have a hard time getting into the tub. I have a bench that you put into the tub to sit on. I wish that we owned our house so that I could get a walk in tub. I don't know if it's an allergic reaction or what or because it was scented but when I used Epsom salt my skin started to itch. I know that they make an Epsom salt lotion so I may try it to see how it works.

Epsom salts in a warm bath can help, because it also detoxes the body. It is a cup of Epsom salts to bath for 20 minutes. I hope you find some relief with them and they are inexpensive. Hugs, Rits

When I flare up with this I feel as if I have the flu - along with GI issues. I had a sleep study done this last Saturday, of course, I didn't sleep very well at all. Came home very early Sunday am and slept just about the entire day and still was able to go to sleep at night.

This is Tuesday and I feel as tho I've had the flu the entire time. Headache, diziness, stomach ache, all of it. I can't tell for sure if it's a bad flare or maybe a touch of the flu - or both. Hard to drag myself to work.
