Do mouth guards help with TMJ?

Wearing a retainer at night has helped my jaw pain and headaches immensely. I tend to clench my teeth when sleeping and off and on throughout the day. Since i started using one about 3 months ago, I have been waking in a better state and have also been clenching less during the day as the retainer is supposed to help stretch the muscles. It has made my life a little better and was worth the cost for me.

Thank you!!! I didn’t just want to waste 350 for something that might no help me or cause more pain.
