I exercised the last couple of days and have pain and stiffness on my right side really bad from my arm to my foot. I lifted some weights and jogged a bit, hoping it would make me fe better but didnt.
I like to stretch in bed before I even get out of bed. I do it slowly and do not push beyond that it makes my joints sore. Since I am not able to work, I find this very valuable to starting my day because I am not "on the clock".
I used to exercise regularly 3 times a week (I found that it gets better after a few sessions of soreness and pain), but as soon as I fell out of the routine I haven't been able to motivate myself to do it any more. In the long keeping active is one of the best things you can do for the pain, especially physical therapy. Also, make sure you stretch really well before hand and take it slow, I know that I personally have the tendency to overdo it.
Exercise has to be really controlled, yoga, stretching exercises are better than weights, that's what I find is better for me. There are days when I can't even do yoga or stretch, so I literally will just sit in a chair and lift my legs up and down and circle my feet, try and do little shrugs with shoulders
Hi, I exercise about 5 times per week. I was very active (running half’s and training for a marathon) when I developed fibro, and I have continued to carry that part of me with me. I trail run, mountain bike, hike/walk and do yoga every week- I find switching up the activities helps me from getting injured or developing more pain. I definitely feel so much better emotionally, mentally and physically when i’m active. I just make sure to listen to my body- if I’m not feeling high energy or am in pain, I stop. I would recommend trying a bunch of different light to moderate activities and seeing which one feels the best for you!
I use my stationary bike or my elliptical. That seems to help me if I do a little bit daily. About 30-35 minutes seems to be a good amount of time for me. More than that and I’ll be hurting.
