I’m right along with you...I miss so much work that now I rent out my other two bedrooms to help with income. Not sure how much longer they’ll allow me to keep missing work, but at least now I have something coming in. Also, going to start selling anything I have that’s just not being utilized. It’s great with all these neighborhood,FB, Poshmart sites that bring in extra cash.
If you’ve worked in your current position for a year Your job should be protected for you for a while through FLMA. Check through HR.
Regarding disability...
You can’t apply for disability if you’re still working or on unemployment. Of course be expected to be rejected more than once if you have to apply. In the meantime get your records and letters together so they’re ready to go...so if and when the time comes you don’t have to exsert yourself...nothing you probably didn’t already think of, but reminders are always good.
Hope this was helpful. Hugs!

It is very unfortunate that a lot of people end up losing everything, by the time their Social Security Disability is approve; especially when you are the only source of income for your family such as myself. I worked for 34 years, before I became disabled and ended up losing my home and car in the process of waiting for my disability. My suggestion to you would be to apply for your disability if you haven't already done so. Make adjustments to your budget according to what your partner can and willing to cover. Do all of what can be done pertaining to finances and unnecessary spending even down sizing to relieve stress. The SSDR (Social Security Disability Retirement) Ride is a mess! Don't try to do this alone. I heard of the nightmares in applying for disability and I got an attorney right off the top. It's a shame, but if you are not legally married you can apply for EBT( food benefits) and seek other benefits through your state websites like Department of Health and Human Services. Depending on your situation you may be able to get some type of help with food, utilities or rent. Every State have there own rules. Social of course is federal though.
