What Type Of Jobs Have People With Fibromyalgia Found Most Tolerable?
A MyFibroTeam Member asked a question đź’

I've been out of work for about 3 months now. I'm so eager to get back to working, but I don't know what type of work to look for. I've done retail in the past and my last job said I could come back when I'm ready, but I'm not sure I can do retail work anymore. Any suggestions?

I work with a lovely young lady with Downs syndrome. We make cakes, go shopping, watch movies or go the gym. It's a really rewarding job that is not to physically taxing. The driving is probably the worst bit especially when my backs bad. I don't do many hours though so need something else.
I used to clean but had to give that up.

I lost my job in February. Up until that point I worked from home doing customer service/call center sales. I am on disability now and would like to get back to something part time. tutoring and writing are the two things I find are the easiest to do. Not as much of a 9-5 commitment. Check out-care.com and viritual vocations for lots of work from home opportunities. Cheers.

I wish you luck as well. I'm off work now and I know I couldn't work. I'm not dependable as I don't know how I'll feel from day to day. I hope you find something you enjoy!

I haven’t worked for fourteen years and I have no idea how you guys do it!! There are days I feel like I could work but that will change in a few hours or the next day! I had to fight for my Disability and WSIB years ago when I got hurt at work which started this whole nightmare and I’m just okay with my income but I would give anything to be out in the workforce again, just not my life! It’s so boring being at home when you’re in too much pain to do anything and you hear from people “oh I’d love to be off work”! Really, then you take this pain and low income and I’ll switch with you any day of the week!! Good luck finding something cause I think you’ll also need it to be done at your own pace and from home! There must be something out there for you but if you have an income, why bother torchering yourself! Again, good luck and I’ll keep my fingers crossed for you!

I haven't had a job for 4 years now, I found sitting up for long periods of time at a desk quite hard and unbearable. I had a lot of back, neck and shoulder pain during that time.

Standing doesn't fair much better unless I am moving around constantly so if I did have a job I would have to be in a lying position sitting up.
