Hi Does Anyone Get Stomach Cramp After Eating Curry.
A MyFibroTeam Member asked a question 💭

I know its an odd question but since taking so any meds I am struggling to find foods that don't affect my stomach. I'm a big curry person and never had any problem in the past but since being on gabapentin I'm unable to eat them without giving me chronic pain in my stomach. It's same with hot drinks too, can only manage warmish drinks now

Talk to your doctor about taking Omeprazole - acid reducer

I have GERD and everything i ate caused distress. Once i started Omeprazole, within a month i could start eating the things I like again.

I have been on the drug for 5 years.

Fibro is a tricky soon-of-a-gun. A lot of us have IBS and other gastro problems as well.

Feel better soon

Omeprazole and other acid reducers we’re never meant to be used on a long-term basis and it is the number one most unnecessarily prescribe drugs that is listed. Just do some reading on it It was meant to be used on a short-term basis only for a few weeks. And long-term use can cause some other unwanted issues. There is lots of reading available online about this nationwide problem. Just ask your doctor or the pharmacist and they will tell you the facts

It's my favourite food so I'm not happy. I don't drink I don't smoke so I look forward to treating myself to a curry once in a while but after that experience I think I'll stay clear of that too 😕.. I also find my portion size is a lot smaller as I can't eat much no matter how hungry I feel at the time. Damn illness but I guess it could be a whole lot worse x

Fibromyalgia does mess with your body’s thermostat. What temperatures and food we were used to change. It all gets messed with and not just from the illness but medication as well.

I used to love a nice hot shower. Now I can barely use tepid water.

Regarding the use of Omeprazole, you are correct that for normal use it should be a 14 day treatment. If your doctor okays it, it can be used long term. You have to weigh the risks though.
