Trouble Talking
A MyFibroTeam Member asked a question 💭

Is this a fibromyalgia “thing?” Like, aside from my awesome burning mouth that comes and goes, along with that, when it occurs, I feel like I cant talk properly. I stumble over my words and just dont even want to talk period. It is the most bizarre thing. It’s almost like my tongue is too big for my mouth. And my mouth tongue feels sore and tired. I feel like i cant even remember basic words anymore either. I literally said something today to my boss and I just ran out of words and literally… read more

It's a fibro thing. I complain all the time about forgetting words. I said 5 different other things while trying to remember closet. It's more frustrating knowing I know it but can't get the word.

Sometimes the numbness feeling I get from time to time has bothered my face and talking feels odd. Not like I had a stroke but the patchy feeling (I don't know how else to describe it) hits where it's tingly or off feeling and my lip and tongue feel off and bother me. It's highly frustrating.

I spent over an hour trying to remember someone's name that I couldn't remember. I knew them. Have known them for years. I knew all the names I was saying we're wrong. I knew his siblings names. I had to look him up via his siblings Facebook to find his name cause it was driving me batty.

Oh yes, I get this everyday, I can't remember words, who am I fooling, I can't remember anything. I am also constantly stumbling over my pronunciations of a lot of words. I have had a sore tongue in the past but it wasn't associated directly with fibro I think, this was more of Candida problem because of my diet, Candida overgrowth can have burning tongue, burning and itchy skin, fatigue and many other symptoms. Probiotics, kefir milk, ginger juice, garlic juice, stuff like that helps with fungal stuff.

Oh yes, the sentence with that cohesive word that makes the sentence, just eludes me! If words really do exist at the tip of my tongue then an entire universe lives on the tip of my tongue! I forever have people pick up on the word i mean, thankfully I have especially clever friends/family on my wavelength, so no need of charades.

It’s incredibley frustrating, especially for someone like me who talks too much and at speed! I guess they are my speed bumps!

Hugs

Unfortunately I believe this is part of fibro and something we all run into, especially as the condition worsens! This life with fibro just plain sucks and I really wish friends and family were a little more understanding and accepting of our symptoms!!
