Finding A Serious Doctor?
A MyFibroTeam Member asked a question 💭

I can't seem to find a doctor to take my pain seriously. They tell me that I'm too young to be hurting as much as I do. They tell me that I'm fat, and just diet and exercise and loosing weight will cure me. I finally got a referral to a rheumatologist and they run tests but the lab place supposedly didn't do the main portion of the test? The rheumatologist(actually I never saw the actual doctor, just the nurse practitioner) didn't see this as a big deal, and she didn't see my weird and abnormal… read more

I kept a log of what was going on.
Use a calendar type book with days. Look for big days or ones with lines. Then 9:00 pain in left leg 11:00 couldn't go to sleep because my hip hurt
3:00 got up because I couldn't sleep. Migraine began at 9:00 am next morning. Mark down time you take any medication too.

So on and so on. Once you have proof and specific on what is going on they will look at it differently. tell them this is what I am living with! Help me. AND it will give you a more clear look at what you are going thru.

I'm just in North Phoenix, so if you need more help just let me know.

@A MyFibroTeam Member, also go to Meetup. Com. Search for the east valley fibromyalgia group. They have activities going on all the time. Just pick one event if that's all you can handle. There will be people there who can give you advice and help as well. I attend activities in the north Phoenix section and it has helped a great deal.

Don't worry about the pain clinic. The marijuana works better anyway. I personally got no help from other pain meds.

My rheumatologist is Ralph Bennett. He has an office over by MCC. Make sure to see the Dr. Mary is his nurse practitioner but she is useless. I have shared that with him. I do believe he tries to understand and help. Hope you get relief soon.

@A MyFibroTeam Member Thanks for taking the time to comment, I appreciate it. I know that I have fibro and that has been diagnosed, but I have multiple doctors that suspect lupus on top of that so that's what the tests were for. I'll definitely look some phone apps like you mentioned, that's a great idea and thank you!
I have my medical marijuana card as I haven't ever been into doing anything illegally. It has been the only thing that has ever touched the pain I feel. I've been through countless medicines and pain killers and steroids and all that good stuff. I suppose I should have mentioned it but my chronic pain started when I was 19 so I've already been 8 years into the med changes and doctors. I just still haven't found a doctor that knows more of what they're really talking about and it's frustrating that I can't be in pain if I'm this age, so I was looking to see if anyone else knew of someone or a magical phrase that gets doctor to clue into pain haha.
Thanks!
